Last week, the EPA announced it will keep the current National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWR) for PFOA and PFOS. The EPA says it is committed to addressing PFAS in drinking water while following the law and ensuring that regulatory compliance is achievable for drinking water systems. As part of this action, EPA announced the following actions:
- Extend compliance deadlines for PFOA and PFOS
- Establish a federal exemption framework
- Launch the new PFAS OUTreach Initiative (PFAS OUT) to enhance outreach to water systems
